Jackson Sent Back to AAA; Ohka Called Up – Reyes Placed on 60-Day DL
The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has purchased the contract of RHP TOMO OHKA from the AAA Columbus Clippers. To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians optioned LHP ZACH JACKSON to Columbus and transferred RHP ANTHONY REYES to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man.
Ohka has spent the entire season to date at AAA Columbus where he has gone 3-3 w/a 3.42 ERA in 9 starts (52.2IP, 53H, 20ER, 9BB, 26K) and has limited Triple A hitters to a .272 (53-195, 6HR) average against while averaging only 1.5 walks per 9.0IP (52.2IP, 9BB). He is currently 10th in the International League in innings pitched and has worked at least 5.0IP in all 9 of his starts. He was 1-1 w/a 2.66 ERA in 4 April starts (23.2IP, 19H, 7ER). He last appeared in a Major League game for Toronto on June 6, 2007 vs. Tampa Bay. He wears #16. He was a non-roster invitee this spring in Goodyear.
Jackson returns to Columbus after making a start last night vs. Tampa Bay (ND, 4.0IP, 8H, 7R/6ER) and for the year with the Tribe he is 0-0 w/a 9.35 ERA in 3 games/1 start (8.2IP, 14H, 9ER, 4BB, 10K, .350AVG).
