Indians Activate Dellucci; Send LHP Rundles to AAA
The Cleveland Indians today activated OF DAVID DELLUCCI from the 15-day disabled list. To clear room on the 25-man roster the Indians optioned LHP RICH RUNDLES to AAA Columbus after Wednesday night’s game vs. Boston.
Dellucci was placed on the 15-day DL on March 30 after being scratched from the lineup of March 28 with a strained left calf. It was David’s sixth career trip to the disabled list at the Major League level. Dellucci began a 20-day rehab assignment at AAA Columbus on April 20 and hit .414 (12-29) with 1 2B, 1 3B & 2RBI in 7 games, hitting safely in all 7 contests (5G DH, 2G LF). He was 5 for 10 with runners on base and 3 for 6 with runners in scoring position.
The Indians now have 4 players on the Major League disabled list at present (Westbrook/S. Lewis/Hafner/Carroll).
Rundles returns to Columbus after being recalled prior to the game of April 29, but did not appear in the game.
