Tribe Comes to Terms on a Minor League Deal w/ P Jason Stanford
The Indians today signed LHP JASON STANFORD to a minor league contract. He will report to the AAA Buffalo Bisons and start tomorrow, Friday April 25th for the Bisons in Scranton.
Stanford, 31, was signed by the Washington Nationals to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training on November 27, 2007. He was re-assigned to minor league camp on March 10 and started the 2008 season with the AAA Columbus Clippers where he was 2-2 with a 10.05 ERA (14.1IP, 19H, 18R/16ER, 9BB, 12K) in 5 games/3 starts. He was released by the Nationals April 21st.
Stanford returns to the Indians organization where he pitched from 2000-2007 after being signed as a non-drafted free agent on November 16, 1999. He owns a career Major League record 2-5 with a 3.61 ERA (87.1IP, 92H, 35ER, 28BB, 51K) in 23 games/12 starts, all with the Indians.
