A’s Continue to Dominate in Latest Tribe 7-3 Setback

Last night the A’s took batting practice off of C.C. Sabathia in a 9-7 win, on Saturday night, they barley had to take their bats off the shoulders against the other Indians ace - Fausto Carmona. The newly re-signed Indian, who got a four-year deal on Thursday with three years of club options, walked a career-high eight batters as the A’s continued to dominate the Indians in a 7-3 win.
Carmona lasted just 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on two hits. He struck out one, but his eight walks were his undoing, as the Tribe fell to 4-7 on the season after starting 2-0. The game was still in doubt for the A’s, as despite leading 3-1 going into the sixth, the Tribe put a run on the board with a bases loaded walk to pinch-hitter David Dellucci to make it 3-2.
But once again, the wheels came off in the 7th, as relief stud last year Rafel Perez came in and gave up any hope that the Indians had, as he allowed four runs to the A’s that inning, with the death blow coming on a three-run homer for Bobby Crosby, his first of the season. It was the first homer of the season for Crosby.
The A’s are now 4-1 vs the Indians in 2008, and Sunday at home in the finale, the only pitcher to have a win against them will go for the Tribe, as Cliff Lee will throw against Chad Gaudin at 1:05PM.
