Sabathia Beaten Again in Hometown as A’s Top Tribe 6-1

Saturday was yet another rough day for the Indians out in Oakland, and more speficially for C.C. Sabathia, who continued to struggle against his hometown team. C.C. allowed four runs, six hits and four walks in 5.1 innings, as the Tribe fell under .500 at 2-3 after losing to the A’s 6-1. Sabathia is now 1-4 with a 7.12 ERA in eight career starts in Oakland, where he grew up.
The team also made A’s starting pitcher Dana Eveland look like a vet in his A’s debut, as he went 7 innings, allowing six hits, one run, and striking out seven. The A’s jumped on CC with three runs in the third after the Indians went up 1-0 after a Travis Hafner double. After a few scoreless innings, Oakland scored in the fifth on a Mark Ellis homer, and then finished off the Indians with two more in the 8th to win 6-1.
The Indians offense were only able to manage six hits, with Asdrubal Cabrera going two for four with a run scored, and Ryan Garko going two for four as well. The Tribe struck out 10 times total as a team, and left 11 men on base. The team has scrapped to score run after winning their first two games against the White Sox, as over the last three games they have scored just five runs in going 0-3.
