Byrd Ugly as Tribe Falls to A’s 6-3

Ugh. This was one of those ugly losses that you don’t even really like to watch. Paul Byrd had zero control on the night, and you got a feeling that after the first inning that he was going to have his issues, and he did. 82 pitches on the night, 49 strikes, and more than one pitch that once he threw it you were like “what was that?!” Oh well, you are going to have nights like last night, and for the offense, that’s two games in a row that they didn’t produce all that much.
One thing that is frustrating about a loss like this is that the A’s are not going to be a very good team, and you’d love to open up a road trip the right way, knowing as well that Oakland had not scored a run in 16 innings before Friday. At least Ryan Garko and Travis Hafner went deep, but it was not enough to get their third win. Now at 2-2, let’s see what happens tonight. Below are local articles on the 6-3 loss.
