One in the Books; Late Rally Leads Tribe to Opening 10-8 Win

Yeah, not exactly a thing of beauty, but I guess when you compare last years opening day joke to this year, the Indians will take it. With Casey Blake leading the way with a big three-run double in the 8th, the Tribe opened the season today with a gutsy 10-8 win on a windy day at Progressive Field. There were a lot of positives, some negatives, but overall after getting snowed out four straight to start the season, the Wahoo’s will take it.
One thing that was a major concern was the injury to catcher Victor Martinez, who left the game with a hamstring injury as the Tribe was coming back from an early 0-2 hole to go up at one point 7-2. The Sox then rallied, scoring two in the 3rd one in the 6th, then two in the 7th to make it 7-7. Blake’s double put the Indians ahead for good, as then JoBo Borowski allowed a solo homer in the 9th, but was able to close it out.
So I guess now that all the hoopla for the opener is done and gone, the team can get down to business. Always nice to start out with a win, and while it’s just one game, it would be nice to get a win on Wednesday night at home to clinch the series win. Fausto Carmona goes for the Indians in the 7:05pm matchup. Below is the recap of the gamer from today from Yahoo!
