Tigers Skipper Leyland – Don’t call us team to beat
Tigger manager Jim Leyland is at it again, playing those mind games that he loves to play, telling anyone that will listen that despite the national media crowning them the AL Central champs already for 2008, the Indians, not the Tigers, are the team to beat in the Central. Good motivation tactic by one of the best in the business, and a good way to get your players motivated. Come on, you don’t believe for a second that Leyland is buying his own bull? Do you? He thinks his team IS the team to beat, he just won’t say it. At least not yet. Here’s the link to the story:

Matt has covered Major League Baseball and the "other two" Pro teams in Cleveland since 1994. He has been on the beat of the Indians in full-time mode since 1996, working for various raido and print networks around the country.

Interesting theory on Leyland’s intentions! I love it.
